Living Joyfully in Times of Change
A Mindfulness Retreat in the Tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh
with Br. Chan Huy
February 6 — 8, 2004
Sponsored by Plum Blossom Sangha
Austin, Texas
This retreat will be a wonderful opportunity for us to slow down, relax, rejuvenate and connect with our deepest source of inspiration and insight. We will practice mindful breathing, walking, eating, and speaking in a spirit of togetherness to grow our peace, calm and joy for our loved ones, our world and ourselves. We will practice deep looking into the situation of our society today and learn to respond with understanding and compassion. This three-day mindfulness retreat will be conducted in the tranquil setting of the McKinny Roughs Nature Park east of Austin, Texas.
Experience in meditation is not a prerequisite for the retreat. Orientation is offered on the first evening. To deepen the retreat experience, we will observe Noble Silence throughout the weekend.
"What is most important is to find peace and to share it with others."
- Thich Nhat Hanh
About Brother Chan Huy
Chan Huy, True Radiance, comes from a family with four generations of Thich Nhat Hanh's students, from his grandmother to his two children. Chan Huy teaches and leads mindfulness retreats throughout North America. As a Vietnamese, he is extremely adept at understanding things about our Dharma tradition that many of us struggle with. Raised in France, he now lives in Canada and easily bridges the gap between East and West. He is among the most accomplished and articulate of Thich Nhat Hanh's lay Dharma Teachers.
Plum Blossom Sangha
Plum Blossom Sangha is a lay Buddhist community that practices mindfulness
primarily through following the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh. We
provide a resource to the community for the study and practice of
Socially Engaged Buddhism.
